Sunshiney Day

Today I woke up, looked for jobs and ate a bowel of Apple Jacks. Got ready and rode my bike to the beach. Rode along the beach, watched the surfers, watched people playing with their dogs, rode some more. Rode up to Bolsa Chica, took some pictures. Rode back to the Huntington Beach pier. Locked my bike, bought a sandwich. Ate my sandwich on the beach. Read some of my book and took some more pictures. Got cold and rode home. 15 miles total on my beach cruiser.

Holiday Party #2

We went to the Blizzard Holiday Party at the Disneyland Hotel on Friday night. Those guys sure know how to have fun! Great food and drinks, dancing, karaoke and Guitar Hero. Afterward we all went to the Hotel Menage and hung out until the wee hours of the morning. Such a fun night!

Bite Me

I know, I know...these days everyone loves vampires, but my obsession started years ago when someone left a copy of Anne Rice's Tale of the Body Thief at my grandparents' beach house when I was 13 or 14. After reading it cover to cover in a matter of a few days, I continued reading the Interview With a Vampire series and pretty much any other vampire related novel I could get my hands on. I then went on to write about those of the fanged persuasion for most of my high school Creative Writing class assignments. I need to dig up some of those stories...

(Photo of me as the Vampire Claudia on Halloween a couple years ago.)

Fast forward more years than I would like to admit and it seems that now everyone is all about vampires, particularly Twilight. I have read the series and can understand the appeal, but that incarnation of vampires is a little too romanticized for my taste. I just don't file Twilight under "vampire" in my mind.

Then, there is True Blood. I am obsessed with both the series on HBO and also the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris, which the show is based on. (I actually just finished the latest book in the series, Dead and Gone, last night.) The plots on the TV series have related back to the earlier novels in many ways and there are some storylines in the later novels that I hope they explore more in the show. I won't give away any secrets, but I will say I was a Bill fan until I read the books, now I'm "Team Eric".

I am not afraid to admit, I love vampires.

'Tis the Season...For Holiday Parties

Went to my first holiday party of the season on Saturday evening. Unfortunately this is the best shot of the dress I was wearing, but I'm hoping maybe another one will surface from another camera.

Next party is this Friday...I have a new LBD that I am super excited to wear. Does anyone else have any fun parties coming up?

Wearing: Marc by Marc Jacobs Dress and not seen in picture: vintage pearls from my Great-Aunt, Hermes Enamel Bracelet and Charles David Black Pumps

Day 1

So today was my first day as a Lady of Leisure. Hopefully this won't last too long, since this was not exactly my choice (yay lay-offs!). But since it's happened, I figure I may as well take advantage of it to the best of my ability.

Goals for my time off, aside from finding a new job obviously, lots of bike riding, photo-taking, gym time, surfing (I guess I need to dig up my wetsuit) and writing. Speaking of finding a new job...if anyone knows of any open positions, let me know. I'm open to look at jobs in other fields besides buying/merchandising as long as it has some sort of creativity to it.

Anyway...I guess I'll use this blog to post about my life without a job adventures!

xoxo
